New NHD project

The innovation that my partner and i chose to do is the telephone. The telephone was first was invented in 1876 by Alexander Graham Bell. The first telephone looked like this:

"Knowing the sound give off waves, like ripples in the water, they travel into the mouth piece there the sound waves are copied by the transmitter behind the transmitter are carbon grains that when an electric current is traveling makes the grains vibrate and that alters the resistance of the grains as a whole. In this way the sound makes more and less current flow in the circuit in proportion to the sound."

"At the other end was a coil of wire within a magnet attached to a diaphram. The variations in current caused the wie to move in the magnetic field and so make the diaphram vibrate in sympathy. Vibrations (as we learnt at the beginning) move air and this makes sound!"

The telephone had replaced the telegraph. It helped society in many ways for example it allowed people to communicate with other people that lived around the world and if you didn't want to live at home you could move out but still keep in contact with your family. The telephone changed I'm many ways through out time. Instead of using the circle dial we have buttons. Telephones now are much smaller, we can make long distance phone calls, and there cordless.
